Who operates LingoAlarm

LingoAlarm is operated by Iñaki Escárate ("LingoAlarm", "we", or "us"). Privacy enquiries can be sent to the contact address at the end of this policy.

The short version

LingoAlarm works fully without an account, and your alarms never leave your phone. If you choose to sign in, your learning data — word lists, progress, streaks, and preferences — syncs to a private space tied to your account so it's backed up and visible on the web dashboard. We don't sell your data, and there are no ads, no analytics, and no trackers.

What always stays on your device

  • Your alarms, schedules, alarm sounds, and quiz settings — these are never uploaded.
  • A local copy of everything else (progress, lists, stats), stored on your phone.

If you use the app without signing in (tap "Skip" on the first screen), nothing syncs and all data stays on the device. Uninstalling the app removes it.

What syncs when you sign in

Signing in turns on sync for your learning data, so it survives a lost phone and appears in your dashboard on this site:

  • Custom word lists and the words in them.
  • Custom vocabulary you add.
  • Per-word learning progress (accuracy, review scheduling).
  • Your streak and quiz stats.
  • App preferences (interface language and target language).

This data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your user ID and is readable only by your signed-in account. Your alarms are not part of sync.

Your account

Accounts are handled by Firebase Authentication (a Google service). With email sign-up we store your email address. With Google Sign-In we receive the basic profile Google provides (name, email, avatar URL). With Sign in with Apple we receive the name and email address you choose to share with us. Apple may provide a private relay address instead of your personal email address. We never see or store your passwords.

Third parties

  • Firebase Authentication (Google) — sign-in. See Firebase Privacy.
  • Cloud Firestore (Google) — stores your synced learning data. Covered by the same Firebase privacy terms.
  • Google Sign-In — if you use it. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Sign in with Apple — if you use it. Apple provides the identity details you authorize and handles the sign-in itself. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

These are infrastructure only. We don't use analytics, crash reporting, advertising SDKs, or tracking of any kind, and we never sell or share your data with anyone else.

How long we keep data

Synced learning data and account information are kept while your account remains active so sync can work. When an in-app deletion succeeds, LingoAlarm removes the synced learning data and account record. Email deletion requests are completed within 30 days. Infrastructure providers may retain limited security, fraud prevention, or backup records for the periods described in their own policies or where the law requires it.

Deleting your data

In the app, go to Settings → Data & privacy → Delete account. This permanently removes your synced data and your account record after you confirm your identity. Data on your device is removed by uninstalling the app. Full details are on the account deletion page.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, export, or delete the data associated with your account at any time — email us at the address below and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children

LingoAlarm is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and highlight the change in the app.
