Who operates LingoAlarm

LingoAlarm is operated by Iñaki Escárate ("LingoAlarm", "we", or "us"). Privacy enquiries can be sent to the contact address at the end of this policy.

The short version

LingoAlarm works fully without an account, and your alarms never leave your phone. If you choose to sign in and have Pro, your learning data — word lists, progress, streaks, and preferences — syncs to a private space tied to your account so it's backed up and visible on the web dashboard. If you subscribe to Pro, your purchase is recorded so the subscription can be unlocked and restored. We don't sell your data. There are no ads, trackers, crash-reporting tools, or behavioural analytics measuring how you use the app. RevenueCat provides subscription status and aggregate revenue reporting.

What always stays on your device

  • Your alarms, schedules, alarm sounds, and quiz settings — these are never uploaded.
  • A local copy of everything else (progress, lists, stats), stored on your phone.

If you use the app without signing in (tap "Skip" on the first screen), nothing syncs and all data stays on the device. Uninstalling the app removes it.

What syncs with a signed-in Pro account

Signing in creates your account. Learning-data sync turns on only while that signed-in account has Pro, so it survives a lost phone and appears in your dashboard on this site:

  • Custom word lists and the words in them.
  • Custom vocabulary you add.
  • Per-word learning progress (accuracy, review scheduling).
  • Your streak and quiz stats.
  • App preferences (interface language and target language).

This data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your user ID and is readable only by your signed-in account. Your alarms are not part of sync.

Your account

Accounts are handled by Firebase Authentication (a Google service). With email sign-up we store your email address. With Google Sign-In we receive the basic profile Google provides (name, email, avatar URL). With Sign in with Apple we receive the name and email address you choose to share with us. Apple may provide a private relay address instead of your personal email address. We never see or store your passwords.

Subscriptions and purchases

LingoAlarm Pro is optional. If you subscribe, the payment itself is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see or receive your card details, billing address, or any other payment information.

We use RevenueCat to load subscription products, check whether a subscription is active across your devices, and restore it when you reinstall. On app launch, RevenueCat creates or reads a pseudonymous customer identifier and queries subscription status. For subscribers, RevenueCat records purchase history — which product was bought, when it renewed, whether a trial was used, and the store receipt — together with an anonymous customer identifier and, once you sign in, your LingoAlarm user ID so the subscription follows your account. Aggregate revenue figures derived from that data are the only analytics we have; there is no SDK measuring what you tap, read, or study.

If you never subscribe, no purchase transaction is created, though the pseudonymous customer record used to query status still exists. Purchase records are kept while the subscription and any store dispute window remain relevant, and are not sold or shared for advertising.

Third parties

  • Firebase Authentication (Google) — sign-in. See Firebase Privacy.
  • Cloud Firestore (Google) — stores your synced learning data. Covered by the same Firebase privacy terms.
  • Google Sign-In — if you use it. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Sign in with Apple — if you use it. Apple provides the identity details you authorize and handles the sign-in itself. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • RevenueCat — loads subscription products and status using a pseudonymous customer identifier; if you subscribe, it validates store receipts and keeps the subscription in sync across devices. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple and Google — process the payment itself if you subscribe, under their own payment terms.

These are infrastructure only. We don't use crash reporting, advertising SDKs, behavioural analytics, or tracking of any kind, and we never sell or share your data with anyone else.

How long we keep data

Synced learning data and account information are kept while your account remains active so sync can work. When an in-app deletion succeeds, LingoAlarm removes the synced learning data and account record. Email deletion requests are completed within 30 days. Purchase records held by RevenueCat and by the stores are kept separately, because Apple and Google require them for billing and dispute handling; deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Infrastructure providers may retain limited security, fraud prevention, or backup records for the periods described in their own policies or where the law requires it.

Deleting your data

In the app, go to Settings → Data & privacy → Delete account. This permanently removes your synced data and your account record after you confirm your identity. Data on your device is removed by uninstalling the app. Full details are on the account deletion page.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, export, or delete the data associated with your account at any time — email us at the address below and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children

LingoAlarm is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and highlight the change in the app.
